Hurricane Felicia has intensified as it makes its way across the Pacific.
Felicia's maximum sustained winds have increased to almost 220 km/h, making it a Category 4 storm, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said Wednesday at 8 p.m PT.
As of that time, Felicia was centred about 2,340 kilometres west-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula and was moving northwest at almost 19 km/h.
But the NHC noted that the hurricane was nearing peak intensity "and weakening is expected during the next couple of days."
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Enrique over the Pacific has maximum sustained winds near 80 km/h. It is expected to weaken and dissipate in the next 36 hours.
Enrique is centred about 1,560 kilometres west-southwest of Baja California and is moving northwest near 19 km/h. |
